Chapter 6. Questions and Answers

6.1. The automatic calculation of the Bounding Box for PostScript files does not work correctly. The calculated values cut off parts of the plot. What's wrong?
6.2. Why does my plot of a data file end with a line to the origin, when the last point of the file does not have the coordinates (0,0)?
6.3. Why does the dash pattern of subsequent curves not start at the same point?

6.1.

The automatic calculation of the Bounding Box for PostScript files does not work correctly. The calculated values cut off parts of the plot. What's wrong?

To work correctly, the Page format must be set sufficiently large on the page Basic Settings of the Configure dialog, because Kpl uses this area to look for the smallest rectangle containing all plotted items.

6.2.

Why does my plot of a data file end with a line to the origin, when the last point of the file does not have the coordinates (0,0)?

Your data file seems to end with some invisible but interfering bytes. Delete them!

6.3.

Why does the dash pattern of subsequent curves not start at the same point?

This allows you to plot a curve consisting of several pieces (e.g. with different function stepwidth) without "jumps" in the dash pattern. You can reset the dash pattern position by placing legends (invisible by choosing symbol -17 and empty text) before the corresponding items.
